The Latvian Language Agency

Latvian Language Agency is a direct administration institution supervised by the Minister of Education and Science, and its aim is to enhance the status and promote sustainable development of the Latvian language – the official state language of the Republic of Latvia and an official language of the European Union.

Latvian Language Agency was founded on July 1, 2009, after the reorganization of the State Language Agency and the National Agency for the Latvian Language Training.

Latvian Language Agency is implementing the state language policy, formulated in the Guidelines of the State Language Policy for 2015-2020 (available here in Latvian).
