One of the aims of the Latvian language Agency is to analyze the situation of the state language and dynamics of sociolinguistic processes in Latvia.
Linguistic study of the situation is conducted in accordance with the State Language Policy Guidelines and the State Language Policy Programme.
The aim of the sociolinguistic section is to identify linguistic situation in Latvia and strengthen the importance of the Latvian language among the official languages of the European Union, as well as to create and influence public opinion on Latvian as the language of national self-confidence and basic statehood of the Republic of Latvia.
